By Padres & Jovenes Unidos Boletin Update: Volume 5, Issue 2March 9, 2010On March 3rd, Alberto Retana, U.S. Department of Education Director of Community Outreach, spoke at a community forum to discuss funding available from the Obama administration to turnaround Colorado's lowest-performing schools. Colorado is eligible to receive $39.7 million dollars from this fund.
This federal financial aid must be met with bold parent and student-led organizing campaigns to push for reforms that will outlast this funding and provide all students with a college preparatory education.
