Denver Post Editorial Endorses SB46 and Padres’ Work to End the School to Jail Track

The Denver Post's editorial on January 22nd supports the efforts of Senate Bill 46 to replace zero-tolerance discipline policies in Colorado with restorative, "common-sense" apporoaches to discipline.  The editorial board cites the advocacy and research of Padres & Jovenes Unidos when they explain the alarming rate at which students have been referred to police in the last decade:"Recent estimates illustrate why the change is necessary. Padres & Jovenes Unidos, a Denver-based advocacy group, has compiled figures showing nearly 100,000 students were referred to law enforcement during the last decade, many for minor fights and disorderly conduct. Those numbers are troubling, indeed."
