Youth Call on Colorado State Legislature to Place Most Effective Teachers in Lowest Performing Schools
Boletin Update by Padres & Jovenes Unidos
Volume 5, Issue 3
March 19, 2010
Jóvenes Unidos is organizing and lobbying at the Colorado State Capitol and meeting with lawmakers to discuss the "Educator Evaluations and Effectiveness" bill. If passed, this bill will ensure that:
- The lowest-performing schools receive the most effective teachers
- Teacher evaluation and retention are tied to student achievement
- Schools can recruit, develop, and retain effective educators
In a time when principals from the lowest performing schools are fueled by a sense of urgency for improvement, their liberty to build teams of teachers with buy-in and a passion for the mission of their schools is paramount.
Come to our community meeting to discuss the "Educator Evaluations and Effectiveness" bill with prime sponsor, Senator Michael Johnston.
