The Dream is Coming: California Freedom Ride Denver Send Off

In the spirit of the Civil Rights Movement, The DREAM is Coming (a national project of autonomous students) has organized a DREAM Freedom Ride traveling from Los Angeles, CA to Washington, DC as part of a national coordinated effort to push for passage of the DREAM Act as a stand alone bill this summer. These 12 students will be on this historic ride for 15 days and will travel through 15 states and over 5,000 miles. Padres & Jovenes Unidos and Escuela Tlatelolco will host these Freedom Riders during their overnight stay in Denver and hold a breakfast send off and press conference the following morning, an event being held in solidarity with the national actions taking place during the week.

On July 19 – 21, the California DREAM Freedom Ride will join hundreds of students and allies who will participate in the National DREAM Act Mobilization in Washington, DC to push for passage of the DREAM Act. Each year over 65,000 undocumented students graduate from US high schools with the hope of continuing their education and pursuing their dreams only to find a road block because of their immigration status. If passed, the DREAM Act would provide thousands of students the opportunity to attend college and a pathway to citizenship.
